I am Visiting Assistant Professor of Interactive Media at NYU Abu Dhabi. Before I was a postdoc at the EVENT-LAb in Barcelona. I conduct my research in immersive virtual reality and study how people respond to events within simulated virtual environments. I am especially interested in the topic of bodily representation, exploring the perceptual, behavioural and higher-level cognitive correlates of body ownership illusions.
I received my PhD degree in Clinical Psychology and Psychobiology from the University of Barcelona (UB). Before that I completed a MSc in Computer Graphics, Vision and Imaging at University College London (UCL) and I have a BSc in Computer Science from the Ionian University.
When I am not at the lab I love spending time painting and baking cakes.#virtualreality #embodiment #presence #ownership #bodyillusions #agency #selfperception

Get In TouchA memorable moment of my first contact with a computer at my primary school. I was so proud of myself that day for simply pressing a button to turn it on that my beloved teachers had to capture it!
Starting off in computer science, where I first discover my enthusiasm for computer graphics and virtual reality. Thanks to my inspiring and passionate professors I set out on a wonderful journey.
Admitted to a top global university, I am given the opportunity to learn from world-leading experts in computer graphics and virtual reality, and further develop my passion for the field.
Joining the Event Lab, one of the leading VR labs in the world, and working with some of the best researchers (and people) I've ever met. I knew for sure then that I wanted to go down the academic path.
Thanks to my tremendous supervisor, tutor, and mentor Prof. Mel Slater, who guided me throughout my doctoral studies, I developed an insatiable hunger for experimentation with new ideas, and most importantly learnt how to be passionate and open-minded about my work, which led me to where I am today.
